Full Job Description
We have recently appointed a new Group Head of Procurement who has an exciting business plan in place. Due to this we are looking for a Procurement Specialist. This role is based in the UK with travel to various ABP Ports. This role focuses on effectively and efficiently sourcing and procuring materials and services across its assigned categories, bringing to bear group purchasing power and leading procurement practices. The role ensures that ABP and its supply chain employ safe, balanced, and responsible procurement practices that protect long-term value and avoid legal and reputational impacts. Develop and implement standard category management for assigned spend categories, aiming to enhance cost savings while delivering outstanding value and performance from the supply chain. Accountable:
- Develop and implement category strategies, sourcing and contract management projects, and supplier relationship management that support business performance and cost reduction targets.
- Lead strategic sourcing projects aligned to category strategies to establish best value Group contracts.
- Find opportunities to increase compliance of regional and functional teams using Group contracts.
- Effectively implement a defined and agreed work plan.
- Review and update contracts, including service level agreements and key performance indicators.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance covered by category strategies.
- Ensure category strategies deliver high levels of transactional efficiency and support P2P targets.
- Develop and implement the contract management process to achieve maximum benefit from category activity. Conduct reviews of business usage and contract compliance. Provide insights through analysis of spend, contract metrics, supply markets, and savings.
- Provide specialist advice and mentorship on leading procurement practices to internal business partners.
- Lead the business in identification, assessment, and management of potential risks associated with differing sourcing and contract management strategies for assigned categories of spend.
- Ensure all category spend aligns with the Group Procurement policy.
Knowledge and experience of delivering procurement projects, including business engagement, procurement strategy, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, contract performance management, and supplier relationship management across various spend categories. Highly commercial, analytical, and innovative in your thinking. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relational abilities. Relevant professional qualification and professional body membership, ideally CIPS or RICS. Expertise in strategic category management. Experience working with multiple collaborators and priorities. Knowledge of pricing arrangements, such as target cost incentive fees. Understanding of Intellectual Property Rights, Trade Controls, and Earned Value Management. Experience preparing tender packages, conducting tender conferences, developing evaluation criteria, analysing and evaluating proposals, negotiating subcontract provisions, and selecting subcontractors. Must have: - Knowledge and experience of procurement under the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 or Public Contract Regulations 2015.
- A proven track record in driving cost out and value up within a Procurement organization.
- Demonstrable experience following a strategic sourcing/category management methodology.
- Experience in developing category plans and strategy.
- Outstanding negotiation skills and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate outstanding collaborator management approach and skills.
