Full Job Description

The Popular Music Station Sound team are a multi-award winning group of Producers and an Assistant Producer who create the on-air sound for the BBC's pop music networks; Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, 1Xtra, Asian Network and Radio 1 Dance. The team create imaging, trails, and verbals as well as pre-produced programme content and mixes for Radio 1.
We are looking for a Producer to join the team for seven months to help us create the sound of BBC Radio 1, based in Broadcasting House, London. This includes planning and delivering imaging, verbals and trails and working closely with the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
This is a role which encompasses expert editing capabilities, good music knowledge, experience of working with high profile talent and the ability to work in a tightly-knit production team quickly.
The Producer will report to the Commissioning Executive, Station Sound.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To plan, prepare, cast, script and produce impactful trails, imaging and verbals.

  • To develop fresh creative ideas and turn these into great audio.

  • To write compelling scripts for imaging, trails and verbals.

  • To work with production teams, presenters and other stakeholders in the preparation and timely delivery of imaging, trails and programme content as required.

  • To ensure your audio productions adhere to the BBC's guidelines and editorial policy.

    High quality audio editing skills, knowledge of Pro Tools is a bonus, and a willingness to. learn new techniques as required.

  • Proven ability to originate and develop creative ideas which engage diverse audiences in a demanding creative environment.

  • A passion for music.

  • A knowledge of BBC Radio 1 and its strategic goals.

  • Demonstrable passion for broadcasting to appropriate audiences, and subjects which fascinate, entertain and appeal.

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to clearly communicate ideas.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, including high profile talent.

  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to new ways of working.
