Full Job Description
As a Senior Product Designer (Design Systems), you will play a critical role in defining, building, and evolving a scalable design system that will ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality user experiences across all of our digital products. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers to create a cohesive, well-documented system that empowers teams to deliver at speed while maintaining design excellence. You will also be regularly using empathy, logic and your knowledge of user-centered design to inform writing and design choices for cross-functional and cross-platform projects. The successful candidate will work collaboratively and transparently while maintaining high standards regarding best-practice, accessibility standards, etc. to influence product vision as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Lead the creation and evolution of a comprehensive design system that supports multiple product teams, ensuring consistency in UI components, patterns, and visual language across all platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product designers, engineers, and product managers to understand their needs and ensure that the design system is flexible and scalable to meet the business's growing requirements.
- Document and maintain design guidelines and standards, ensuring the design system is easy to understand, adopt, and use by teams across the organisation.
- Develop reusable UI components and patterns that drive efficiency and ensure consistency across product interfaces, maintaining a high level of quality and craftsmanship.
- Advocate for the design system within the company, presenting its value to stakeholders and teams, and educating the broader product organisation on best practices for using and contributing to the system.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of design system components within the product's codebase, working closely to maintain pixel-perfect precision.
- Conduct audits and regular assessments of the product interfaces to identify opportunities for improving the design system or addressing inconsistencies.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in design systems, advocating for innovative approaches that will keep the system at the cutting edge of design and technology.
- Mentor and provide feedback to other designers on using and contributing to the design system, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared ownership.
5+ years of experience in product design, with a strong focus on building and maintaining design systems at scale. - Proven experience in designing and documenting UI libraries and pattern components for web and mobile applications.
- Exceptional expertise using Figma, with a strong focus on creating reusable components and scalable design systems.
- A good understanding of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and experience working closely with engineers to bridge the gap between design and code.
- Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, with an eye for detail, consistency, and a deep understanding of creating intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing interfaces.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting ideas, designs, and the value of a design system to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with design tokens and their implementation within design systems.
- Passionate about solving complex design challenges and driving continuous improvement through iteration and feedback. Nice to Haves:
- Ideally, experience working in Agile development environments.
- Ideally, experience with version control systems.
- Ideally, experience mentoring and coaching junior designers. An online design portfolio of case studies is required for consideration.
