Full Job Description

This is an exciting time to join Channel 5 as we transition to digital first, free to air, advertising funded streaming business. Paramount/Channel 5 are seeking an individual able to lead and implement the product side of this transition.

As Channel 5 proposition evolves, our challenge is to integrate new experiences into My5 and make our users aware of the changes. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product, the successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the evolution of My5 across the devices we support. The ambition is to create a suite of highly personalised, feature-rich applications, that not only delight viewers but also deliver on business strategy.

This role requires engagement with key internal partners to establish wider business needs. You will need to form and nurture collaborative relationships across the organisation. While you will be defining what we build, your primary focus will be on supporting our development teams to bring the features to market. As such, the role requires strong organisational skills and an ability to balance business and user priorities.,

  • Ownership of the delivery roadmap, supporting the evolution of My5 proposition.

  • Using a range of inputs including user testing, research, competitor analysis, understanding of our customers and how they use our products and a knowledge of the wider digital landscape to suggest and assess product opportunities and ideas.

  • Working with the design team to lead product experimentation and discovery, developing opportunities for growth.

  • Form collaborative relationships with wider development, design and product teams, as well as business partners and third-party suppliers making sure their input is considered and valued and the output meets the budget, deadline and quality

  • Manage a prioritised backlog of product ideas, defining product requirements and acceptance criteria

  • Define requirements and acceptance criteria and work closely with the development teams to ensure these are well understood and delivered on time, within budget

  • Manage ongoing initiatives, identify and remove obstacles, articulate progress, dependencies, and risks to the product team, engineering and partners

  • Stay on top of industry changes, through self-research/learning that may have a direct impact on product

  • Lead product meetings, workshops, sprint demos and be able to communicate product direction to partner groups.

    You should have a passion for digital products, the television industry, and its future development.


  • Be a natural creative problem solver, capable of driving a user-centred approach to product discovery and development.

    Be highly organised in your approach, meticulous whilst being capable of understanding the broader business context of your decisions.

    Have strong delivery focus and ability to prioritise and unblock development / deployment activities.

    Be a confident communicator, able to lead meetings, workshops and discussions with suppliers, partners and colleagues.

    Strong analytical capabilities, able to interrogate statistical data and make evidence-based decisions on where to focus effort.

  • Experience in working within agile software development, preferably at enterprise scale

  • Mid level experience in a digital product role. We are particularly keen to talk to candidates with delivery experience

  • Experience working with Video products across the device landscape - mobile, desktop, connected TV/set-top boxes an advantage

  • Demonstrable ability to lead and take ownership of problems and think creatively to solve them

  • Task management, problem-solving skills and the ability to drive features from concept to release

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal plus strong presentation abilities.
