Full Job Description

The Product Function is responsible for creating and building a world class cross-border payments solution, supporting a portfolio of products and adding sustainable value to the business. This role will be a Product Owner, responsible for gathering and analyzing business requirements and supporting development teams to evaluate and prioritize backlogs. This may include:

  • Supporting the development of the product strategy (or network product strategy), go-to-market plans, and product design documents

  • Defining and maintaining the Visa Payments limited product roadmap and vision in-line with portfolio strategic objectives and themes

  • Building, prioritizing and maintaining program backlogs

  • Evaluates and provides updates on product roadmap delivery progress

  • Coordinating a scrum team of business analysts, technical analysts and developers and providing ongoing guidance and knowledge transfer to less tenured Product Owners


  • What we expect of you, day to day.

    This role will report to a Product Manager. This position requires an experienced Product Owner with leadership skills, deep payments experience, technical aptitude and a proven ability to get things done and shall:
  • Lead multiple product development work streams across the business.

  • Take ownership of the product.

  • Direct and support a team of business analysts, developers and test resources with support of a Scrum Master

  • Work with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, information and systems to achieve final technology/business solution.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand the business objectives and translate these into requirements to feed into the Product roadmap.

  • Ensure the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, including dependencies and priorities based on the overall strategy.

  • Assists with the elaboration of Epics, Themes and Features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint.

  • Review test results before releasing to production.

  • Support testing, training and implementation activities, identify and document emerging business requirements to ensure the successful delivery of the overall business and technology solutions.

  • Facilitate in providing estimates for user stories, bug fixes, spikes, etc.

  • Attend and participate in agile ceremonies.

  • Evaluate stakeholder feedback and work with other Product Owners and Product Managers to address concerns and identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement.

  • Ensure continuous improvement across the product (or Network Integration) portfolio to support revenue targets and forecasted profits with a focus on client and customer experience.

  • Create epics and features to support the evolution and evaluation of new products or network products: Collation of business requirements (or Network Partner related services) to define the features.

  • Support the flow and prioritization of work through the scrum boards.

  • Participate in feature prioritization: Present the vision to the teams, highlight any upcoming milestones and approve prioritized quarterly objectives

  • Support release plans to maintain continuous release calendar

  • Work with IT, Ops and readiness teams to ensure product features and services are successfully launched to customers (either internal or external)

  • Accept feature as done by ensuring they meet the acceptance criteria and has sufficient acceptance tests

  • Support the evaluation of new product or network product features by creating and improving product KPIs.

  • Produce reports to summarize performance of Product or network integration supporting features.


  • This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week ( Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday ) (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

    2+ years in a product ownership, or scrum master in an agile team
    3+ years' experience in payment industry, FX, cross border payments, SWIFT payments, ACH payments, ISO 20022, global instant payments schemes.
    Solid business analysis capability and understand of data mapping.
    Successful track record of working with cross-functional teams
    Proven experience working in an Agile methodology environment (e.g. SCRUM, DSDM, Lean/Kanban).
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written & oral) and stakeholder management with an ability to translate business needs to a technical team
    Results orientated, continues to work toward achievement of goals in the face of obstacles readily integrating changes into work processes and outputs
    Data flow process mapping, data transformation, migration and reconciliation.
    Good technical understanding of web applications and APIs.
    Great intellectual agility and attention to detail.
    Open to feedback, able to deal with ambiguity and work on multiple concurrent activities.
    Able to work and manage scrum teams that are geographically dispersed and across time zones
    Excellent planning, problem solving, organization, analytical and issue resolution skills
    Confident working with limited direction, usually within a complex and evolving environment, to drive delivery of solutions while influencing cultural change.
    Communicate effectively and proactively with management ideas and recommendations for optimizing business operations
    Organizational and leadership abilities to influence, negotiate and drive results
    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to resolve scheduling and other conflicts in order to meet all deadlines.
    Ability to work independently, prioritize own and Team's workload to meet deadlines under pressure
    Ability to embrace change and ambiguity in an ecosystem that is rapidly evolving.
    Strong knowledge of MS-Office products for Windows including Word, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint.
    Solid technical competence in XML, JSON and other message syntax and basic Java knowledge.
    Working experience in using Jira and Confluence.
