Full Job Description

  • Act as a deputy for the Senior Product Pricing Actuary; play a key role in leading and shaping the team.

  • Take responsibility for whole pieces of work including planning and stakeholder management.

  • Input into the pricing strategy for the Society and work with other areas across the business to shape products which help fulfil the aims of the Society.

  • Provide actuarial support to distribution colleagues.

  • Provide actuarial input into the development of new products and changes in product terms for new business.

  • Produce revised premium rates, profit tests and other product pricing calculations to ensure that products are appropriately priced and allow for the potential impact of product developments on capital resources.

  • Recommend changes to product charges for existing business in line with TCF and business requirements.

  • Provide actuarial input to reinsurance arrangements.

  • Provide actuarial sign off of marketing literature and other policyholder communications.

  • Calculate Product Disclosure numbers in line with FCA rules; specify, maintain and test policy illustration systems and provide actuarial input into customer advice guidelines and calculators.

  • Specify and test changes required to the Society's mainframe or PC-based systems for the introduction of new products or pricing changes to existing products.

    You will be an experienced actuarial professional with a combination of technical and business skills. You will help lead the actuarial function, supporting Senior Leaders and Department Leaders in delivering actuarial work and shaping new directions and ideas., Fully qualified member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries

  • Experience of working in insurance, preferably life insurance would be advantageous

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to summarise and contextualise information for senior stakeholders;

  • Good problem solving and data analysis skills;

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team;

  • Ability to coach, supervise and train junior members of the team

  • Good drafting skills, including ability to write reports for senior stakeholders

  • Good time management skills, including the ability to project manage small projects within teams

  • Knowledge of actuarial projection software such as Prophet, MoSes or MG Alfa

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work on own initiative;

  • Good knowledge of Excel, Word and databases;

  • An organised and flexible approach to work.
