Full Job Description
As our new Production Assistant, you will be allocated titles and related responsibilities with support and guidance from the senior manufacturing team. You will oversee areas of the backlist on your own initiative and work alongside manufacturing colleagues, design, editorial, marketing, inventory and supply chain and sales and marketing teams internally, as well as global suppliers including print, media replication and suppliers externally. This is an amazing opportunity to work within an established and supportive team while gaining experience in a production role! To be successful in this position, you will ideally have some interest or knowledge of publishing and some previous office-based work experience. Duties of the role include:
- Action titles within agreed SLA to ensure they are delivered on time and in accordance with the tender agreement for schedule, quality and price.
- Set, monitor and maintain schedules in accordance with degree of complexity of project, tender agreements and agreed lead times in order to meet target delivery date in to the warehouse or a customer.
- Ensure all data on systems is maintained to ensure reports can be collected and information to the customer is correct.
- Assist the senior managing colleague in other areas of production in order to maximise the performance of the department.
- Carry out general administrative tasks on behalf of the whole department as required to ensure the efficient running of the Production Department. Maintain a working knowledge of the administration duties required within the department.
- Respond to unexpected situations, informing colleagues if appropriate, and if necessary be guided in order to ensure business is returned to the same or higher operational level.
Our ideal person will have great attention to detail and be able to prioritise. You will have the ability to manage multiple tasks, be organized and have excellent communication. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: - A good team player and clear communicator, with the ability to liaise and collaborate with a range of internal and external personnel with varying levels of seniority.
- Deadline focussed with the ability to get things done and/or persuade others to get things done within tight deadlines.
- Able to identify accurately priorities that fulfil the divisional requirements.
- Numerate, flexible proactive with good organisational and presentational skills.
- Good administrative and IT skills particularly Excel and databases.
- Some experience of handling print production work would be an advantage
