Full Job Description

  • The Production Engineer is required to complete the industrialisation of design changes or introduction of new products into Safran HE UK's new production activity, whilst providing on-going technical support to the existing product portfolio.
  • The Production Engineer is responsible for the definition of all aspects of the production method including definition of manufacturing instructions, stage drawings, setting sheets, CNC programs, tools and gauges as required.
  • The Production Engineer shall ensure all manufacturing is delivered to a robust quality standard and at the lowest total cost, whilst ensuring that the project actions / objectives / milestones are achieved on time, on budget, and in accordance with all customer and company requirements.
  • The Production Engineer shall continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, work practices and take responsibility for implementation of improvement solutions.
  • Deliver all elements required for successful New Product Introduction and method changes.
  • Ensure that products and services meet the requirements of customers, quality standards and airworthiness authorities
  • Provide technical support to the existing product portfolio and production services
  • Deliver rapid problem solving to minimise the impact of product non conformance whilst ensuring Quality, Cost and Delivery Targets are respected.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret customer documentation Bill of Materials (BoMs), specifications, drawings, sketch sheets, assembly & test schedules etc. to ensure robust manufacturing processes.
  • Creation of all process & procedures for the production of parts and sub-assemblies, including the definition of associated tooling.
  • Responsible for fully validating all manufacturing processes, in accordance with SHEUK and customer procedures.
  • Maintain, support and control of instructions, stage drawings, tool and workholding drawings.
  • Support the NCR process through implementation of corrective actions.
  • Review all Customer product and specification change documentation to ensure that changes are interpreted and implemented into the New Production documentation system; in a controlled manner.
  • Request for quotation - generate all details for manufacturing cost input.
  • Specify equipment and tooling needed for New Production products.
  • Support capital justification for new equipment.

    Recognised Engineering Qualification - Minimum HNC
  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience of 3D CAD system preferred
  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience of CAM / offline programming system preferred
  • Working Knowledge of Solid works & Edge CAM would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Production Engineering, either from Aerospace (preferred) or a regulated high tech manufacturing sector would be an advantage.
  • Ability to create a plan and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills including MS Office applications
  • Experience of creating and modifying machine programs for 5 axis machining centres and mill/turn lathes (Heidenhain & FANUC controls)
  • Experience of creating and updating technical documents.
  • Experience of 5 why's / Ishikawa and/or 8D problem solving tools
  • Experience of AS9102 or APQP would be an advantage
  • Experience of PFMEA risk management would be an advantage
  • Experience of SAP ERP system would be an advantage
