Full Job Description

The support of new and existing products in the Production environment. Functions: To carry out duties to ensure the effective operation of the Production Engineering department and to provide the primary interface between product design and Manufacturing. Production support through installation, programming and maintenance of production equipment. First line support for Production related problems. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Test & Process Equipment a. To ensure Production is supplied with suitable and effective test and process equipment and that they are documented and maintained in a controlled manner. b. To assist in ensuring that manufacturing processes are adequately validated. c. To implement new test and production process methods. d. Liaise with process equipment manufacturers as a primary contact. e. Liaise with process equipment maintenance providers. Production Support a. To liase with other departments in order to provide a rapid and thorough response to Production problems. Technical Support a. Designated first point of contact between R&D and Production/Production Engineering on technical issues related to Production processes. b. Advise on suitability of alternative electronic components to replace obsolete electronic devices on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA's). c. Upload and manage Printed Circuit Board Assembly Parts Lists on an electronic component analysis portal. Ensure appropriate staff are alerted when devices are made obsolete. New Product Introduction a. Carry out duties as the Production Engineering representative on New Product Introduction (NPI) project teams and advising on Manufacturing related aspects of bringing new products into mass production. b. Co-ordinate the Pilot Build and Pre-production Build phases of NPI in accordance with project objectives. c. Create Production related documentation (product build instructions, test procedures, device assembly/test records, serial number systems etc). Managing Change a. Raise Change Requests to enable changes to Manufacturing related areas such as process control, documentation, etc. b. Compile Engineering Change Notes to implement agreed changes to Production related processes. c. Raising and managing Trial Batches of proposed alterations to Production processes or documentation. Work as a member of a project team as required to complete a project's objectives. Completion of COSHH assesments and general H&S activities as required. Any other duties as required by management in order that organisational objectives can be met.

  • Experience of electronic product manufacturing.
  • Good knowledge/understanding of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel etc).
  • Ability to interpret electronic circuit diagrams and electronic component datasheets.
  • Minimum of HNC/HND in an Electronics discipline.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Desirable requirements
  • Experience of managing test equipment relating to PCBA's.
  • Experience with Labview controlled functional test systems.
  • Basic mechanical engineering skills.
