Production Journalist

We're looking for exceptional journalists to play a key role in producing, planning and creating news content for ITV Cymru Wales. Our Production Journalists are critical to our overall success and this role will suit both emerging and experienced journalists who come to us with a knowledge of Wales and an ambition to create impactful, high-quality, distinctive journalism for television and online audiences and viewers of our streaming platform ITVX. In this role you will plan news stories; produce live television news bulletins and write and publish news stories for our online audiences. You'll be working in a fast paced, 7 day a week environment and shift working is a key part of this role. We're committed to inclusivity and being representative of our audience. That starts with building trust and uncovering stories with particular appeal to under-represented groups. No two days are the same and you will need to show us how your self discipline, work ethic and passion for news enables you to cope with a demanding workload. • Generating creative ideas for visual stories, finding new angles and creating original treatments.
• Taking on new skills to write, publish and curate news content in a live environment to the standard required by ITV News.
• Working well in a team, strong communication and being decisive.
• A passion for Wales and its people., Plan coverage, produce bulletins, curate and publish online news. Generate video content for our flagship streaming service ITVX
• Keep abreast of key developments within Wales and maintain a strong contacts base.
• Ensure material is published in line with ITV's various legal and regulatory frameworks., The above salary range is for internal guidance only, to assist colleagues in assessing their suitability for the role. The actual salary offered may be at any point within this range. The range does not represent a longer term salary commitment for the role.
  
  Depth of journalistic experience (ideally more than 2 years). Candidates with less and who demonstrate a passion for Welsh journalism may instead be considered for a Fixed Term Contract
• Recent achievements across the breadth of skills needed for the role including the sourcing, planning, editing and writing of news content on different platforms.
• Strong understanding of Welsh audiences and the distinct nature of Wales and devolved structures.
• Self starter approach and your creativity and ideas to bring original content to our audience on air and online., Relevant skills such as planning coverage, bulletin producing and curating news for a news website combined with a mindset that is willing to take on new skills and responsibilities.
• Knowledge, skills and experience of reaching new audiences on new platforms.
• Excellent, relevant contacts with an ability to build trust with people, communities, faiths and races outside of their own to tell their stories and so deliver original coverage for our online and television audience.
• Awareness and understanding of media law & compliance and the ability to exercise excellent editorial judgement and accuracy in their writing.
• A good knowledge of Wales and its distinct features.
