Full Job Description

As a Production Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure the efficient production and distribution of goods. You'll be responsible for monitoring product quality, maintaining health & safety standards, managing production staff, as well as supporting with administrative task. For this role, flexibility is key, as you may be required to perform tasks outside your usual scope to support the business. Here's What You Can Expect to be Doing The role involves assessing weekly production plans, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety standards, and maintaining high hygiene levels. You will be responsible for overseeing production, staff management, and ensuring product compliance with specifications. Key Responsibilities: Production & Operations:

  • Assess weekly production plans and manage daily staffing requirements.
  • Oversee production timings, rotate stock, and monitor production runs.
  • Ensure product compliance with specifications, documenting all processes accurately.
  • Track and review key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage and maintain machinery, ensuring smooth operations and site security.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Conduct Safe Systems of Work (SSW) and Risk Assessment (RA) reviews for compliance.
  • Utilize IOSH training to write SSW/RA for new equipment or processes.
  • Conduct audits and site walkarounds, documenting and addressing any concerns.
  • Investigate accidents, complete necessary documentation, and submit reports.
  • Provide mentorship and support to employees regarding health and safety concerns.
  • Human Resources:
  • Oversee recruitment, inductions, and return-to-work procedures following employee sickness.
  • Handle Risk Assessments for employees facing health-related conditions, including illness, pregnancy, or injury.
  • Guide staff facing personal, welfare, or financial difficulties to appropriate resources, such as Grocery Aid.
  • Manage employee absences and record them in Quinyx and other systems.
  • Training & Development:
  • Maintain and update the training matrix for each department, ensuring compliance.
  • Support new hires and agency staff, ensuring they are set up in the People Zone system.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions, delivering clear communication and documentation (SOPs).
  • Translate for employees as needed during training.

  • Experience in a supervisory position, ideally within an FMCG environment.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety standards (IOSH certification preferred).
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Multilingual in English and either Urdu or Gujarati (desirable but not essential).
  • Food Safety Level 2/3 certification is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
  • A positive attitude with a "can-do" approach to problem-solving.
