Full Job Description

Our Barnsley facility is the centre of excellence for formulated solutions in the Europe, Middle East, Africa and India region. Working to ISO 9001:2015 standards, the plant specialises in manufacturing ready-to-use products that combine the optimal polymeric binder chemistry with multiple functional additives resulting in superior physical and aesthetic performance, such as flame retardancy/fire safety, abrasion resistance, stretch recovery and environmental comfort.

Working closely with customers and major retail organisations, our products are used in the domestic, commercial and institutional sectors of upholstered furnishings and window blinds, technical textiles such as automotive, protective and industrial fabrics and high performance apparel.

What You'll Do:

As a Production Operator you will produce a range of products, including aqueous compounds, ink and dye dispersions and dispersants. This will be iin accordance with standard procedures and operating instructions covering HSES, quality, output and efficiency aspects within a COMAH lower tier Chemical Manufacturing Unit. You will ensure that the correct materials (quantity and specification) are available for charging into the process as required, and you will pack final product into a range of product sizes, ensuring the packages are appropriately labelled and secured. When required you will carry out problem solving / troubleshooting in a safe manner to ensure production plans are delivered.

What We're Looking For:

The following accountabilities are identified for the role of Production Operator

  • Maintain accurate written records such as batch sheets and stock counts

  • Packing of final product to ensure that material is supplied to the warehouse / customer in a timely fashion and subsequent batches are not delayed. Correct labelling and securing of the packages prior to packing. Responsible for ensuring accurate filling of packages and that there is no external product contamination or damage at the point of despatch.

  • Ensure the correct materials are prepared and available at the point of use.

  • Assist the production technician where required in charging materials.

  • Be proactive involvement in improvement projects to drive the site's key performance indicators.

  • Take a lead in driving housekeeping standards / CI initiates within own work areas.

  • Adhere to and promote compliance with company HS&E policies, practices, and procedures, always striving for continuous improvement.

  • Carry out training of new staff to ensure they are familiar with detailed operating requirements before validation.

    Educated to a minimum of GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English

  • An awareness of safety legislation, procedures, and quality systems (ISO 9001-2015)

  • Ability to work both in a team and independently under general supervision

  • Computer literate

  • Forklift Drivers Licence

  • Good communication skills

  • The ability to plan

  • Have a results orientated mindset

  • The ability to build relationships
