Fermoie is an innovative textile designer and manufacturer, designing, printing and selling beautiful fabrics, lampshades and accessories. We create original fabrics; from weaving, dying and inspirational first studio drawing to a unique take on traditional printing, alongside delightful home accessories which bring to life our fabrics. Creative thinking, unparalleled care and the highest of quality are intrinsic in everything we do. We are a small and close-knit team, with our printing and accessories capability (and this role) located in Marlborough.

JOB DESCRIPTION / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Full training to be given to successful candidate. The Production Technician (Paint) will work within the paint team making high quality paint and colours, ensuring these are delivered to the print team in line with the daily production schedule. They will complete quality control inspections on all incoming pigments. They will complete maintenance plans on time and report any defects found to any piece of equipment. They will be responsible for the cleanliness and good order of the paint area and main storage areas plus the immediate surrounding areas.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES; 


 -  Working within the paint team, they will work to Fermoie’s operating procedures to produce consistent, right first-time paints, being flexible and responsive to current business needs. This includes but is not limited to; operating Fermoie’s paste and pigment dispensing equipment, operating and maintaining the drawdown equipment, fulfilling all quality control procedures using Fermoie’s photo-spectrometer.


  Working to all standard processes set by Fermoie.


- To be highly skilled in problem solving any paint quality control issues.


-  To provide cover in the absence of the paint team supervisor.

o Lead the paint team’s daily duties

o Setting targets and solving problems

o Attend the daily supervisor meeting

o Attend the weekly production team meeting


-  Supplying accurate and completed documentation associated with the paint team. Updating and maintaining Fermoie’s master files, recipe database and the rolling updates on production sheets.

o  Working to agreed standards to ensure that paints are locked in ‘right first time


- Good communication flow with peers regarding print planning, quality issues, studio requirements etc.

o  Participating in the weekly paint team meeting and contributing to the Continuous Improvement mindset, eg bringing ideas to the meeting and working to implement various new methods with a positive attitude


-    Execute the daily and weekly paint team maintenance plans effectively and on time, communicating any faults with equipment and machinery to the production team leader.

o  Showing a basic understanding of how our equipment works and being able to communicate clearly if something is not right.


-   Ensuring the paint area and immediate areas surrounding it are kept to Fermoie’s daily and weekly cleanliness and good order standards.


-   Maintain a basic understanding of the process of printing, being able to assist when required.

o  Provide for cover both the warehouse and print team during holiday or sickness, including all washing and setting up processes.


-  Working to agreed warehouse processes, being able to undertake all quality control when required.

o  Focusing on maintaining skill in fabric quality control and assisting in stock management

o  Keeping all warehouse areas related to production clean and in good order.


-  Proactively seeking personal training, helping to maintain and keep updated all manuals related to production. Agreeing and participating in personal training plans, highlighting any additional training needs.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

 

·      £24,720 per year, rising to £25,220 upon passing your probation (usually 3 months)

·      25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays

·      Core working hours are: 7.30-4.00pm with 15 mins break and 30 mins lunch across the shift
