Professional Discipline Lawyer

The Regulatory Department is very diverse, offering a broad range of expert advice to organisations and healthcare professionals facing disciplinary action, criminal allegations and professional regulatory sanctions, as well as DPA requests and inquests. The role will primarily focus on assisting the Professional Discipline Team with the management of matters relating to doctors and dentists on behalf of their medical defence organisation, and private clients. With our diverse offering, inevitably there will be both the scope and need for our lawyers to be involved in work for clients outside of their core caseload. Main duties and responsibilities

• Managing a case load of professional discipline matters under supervision of a partner
• Drafting submissions to regulators
• Instructing counsel and experts
• Liaising with institutional and lay clients
• Advocacy at inquest hearings and at the GMC
• Attending hearings with counsel
• Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
• Ensure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KPIs are adhered to
• Comply with relevant policies and procedures
• Work in accordance with Weightmans' values

About You You will be a qualified solicitor, 3 to 15 years PQE. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. • Disciplined time management and organisational skills
• Capacity to rigorously investigate and analyse evidence
• Ability to multi-task and prioritise
