Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit to a new post within the Specialist Network, a Band 8a , Professional Lead for Reducing Restrictive Interventions. The post holder will work across the whole Pennine Care geographical footprint covering psychiatric intensive care units, step down, low secure, learning disability and CAMHS services.

The post holder, as the Professional Lead, will work across our inpatient pathways taking the lead in developing the service approach, supporting the delivery of an improvement plan and embedding the principles of reducing restrictive practices.

The post holder will work along side our Network Quality and Operational teams and the inpatient clinical teams.,

  • Lead on the implementation of the strategy

  • Develop robust governance structures

  • Utilise Quality Improvement methodology linked to the workstream

  • Represent the Trust, both regionally and nationally

  • Develop a robust system of assurance

  • Work closely with service users and their carers

  • Have clinically credible knowledge of clinical systems and processes

  • Act as the lead, providing visibility

  • Deliver care and make decisions about the direction and type of care the service users receive

  • To be a visible and proactive role model

  • To provide expert care opinions and advice with our inpatient units

    Main duties:
  • Lead on the implementation and review of a programme of work that supports the reduction of restrictive interventions and application of safe practice that meets best practice and regulatory guidance within the care hub.

  • Lead and implement governance structures to provide assurance of the implementation and monitoring of the programme of work. This includes the examination, interpretation, and effective use of data related to restrictive practices.

  • Lead on the development and implementation of a reducing restrictive interventions (RRI) total quality management system.

  • Utilise quality improvement methodology to lead and coach local improvement programmes linked to restrictive practices (i.e. programmes to reduce use or to meet certain standards).

  • In conjunction with key stakeholders, be responsible for developing policy and practice in line with the principles of reducing restrictive practices and promoting recovery.

  • Act as the Trust representative at regional and national networks and meetings related to the reduction of restrictive interventions and development and monitoring of national standards.

  • The post holder will ensure the principles of co-production are central to all quality improvements and identified work plans.
