Full Job Description

The Global Business Development Leadership team sets the strategy in consultation with the Global Strategy Board, Client ExCos and Global Practice Groups (GPGs). The BD teams (comprising Communications, Marketing, Business and Client Development experts) are led by functional and regional heads of Business Development who are aligned to our global and regional boards. Our strategy seeks to:

  • Manage and develop clients and profile in our global sectors
  • Adopt a content and product led approach in taking our practice groups to market
  • Prioritise the use of integrated digital marketing channels
  • Position our most senior staff as advisors to the business, supported by expert execution teams
  • Our principles dictate that the highest value clients and opportunities command the highest value BD attention and bespoke tactics
  • The Role This role will work closely with the Global Business Development Leadership team, the Head of Business Development for Insurance and Multinationals, the Global Professional Services Practice Group Leader, the various regional BD teams supporting professional practices, and the broader Professional Services Partnership to help develop and implement a cohesive approach to the market focused on growth opportunities. You will be expected to leverage and influence our network; facilitate the sales process; originate and coordinate high value marketing and communications activity; and provide advisory and execution services to partners. Ensuring that tactics employed are aligned to achieving the strategic goals for the Global Professional Services Practice Group whilst effectively advocating the aims of the firm's business development agenda. Collaboration with Communications, Marketing, Pitch & Pursuits, Business Development, Client Development, and regional teams are integral at the awareness, engagement, and retention stages of the pipeline, achieved with a strong sense of team and cooperative attitude and a digital first ethos. The role reports to the Head of Business Development (Insurance and North America). There will be direct line management of three headcount (combination of managers and execs to be determined) within this global practice group. The role is based in the London office.,
  • Lead business development related implementation of the global professional services strategy to realize market growth.
  • Track and remain up to date on global and regional market trends to identify and exploit opportunities.
  • Work with partner groups in identified growth areas or regions to establish our market reputation and capabilities to showcase to clients.
  • Promote cross selling and introductions for existing clients across areas within professional services and geographies.
  • Gain and maintain an understanding of our global offering (not just UK) in order to identify the most fruitful opportunities for the practice group.
  • Alongside the Client and Business Development Teams (including Exco support teams), develop our business development and client development approach to the emerging issues and market events impacting our clients in the professional services space.
  • Develop strong and influential relationships with lawyers and staff supporting the professional services practice group to cause their active engagement with our business development strategies.
  • Work with the marketing team to utilize all of the available tools and channels - thought leadership, products, campaigns, knowledge - to better present to the market and clients who we are and what we do in the professional services space.
  • Oversee high value pitch and panel opportunities with clients in the professional services space and facilitate access to best practice pitch and marketing content to improve consistency of the go to market messaging.
  • Embed the firm brand narrative within the approach to the professional services practice group.
