Full Job Description

The Programme Chief Engineer is responsible for leading Development Program and In Service activities on a specific Programs. The postholder will be responsible for establishing customer needs and coordinating Safran capability to ensure delivery within agreed SLA's. You will be the main technical focal point throughout the Safran life cycle process, coordinating and managing all engineering aspects for the program, liaising with other functions to ensure coherent planning and will work closely with the Program Management team as part of a multi-functional team. You will have the overall program technical authority/signatory and be part of the engineering site leadership team. Complementary Description Define, agree and manage the engineering budget plus schedule with Program Management for the program Technical authority for the program Work with functional managers to ensure necessary skills are deployed Manage the technical interface with the customer and airworthiness authorities Provide monthly program updates to the engineering management leadership team and negotiate any required support Lead other operational functions for all technical aspects internal to SLS: Programme, Production, Purchasing, Customer Support, Quality, MRO and Build to Specification Suppliers During the development phase of the programme:

  • Conduct design, development, industrialisation and qualification of landing gear structures and systems to meet performance, costs (NRC & RC on a standard basis that has been defined and agreed with the program manager) and schedule objectives
  • For activity dealing with the fleet in-service:
  • Manage design modifications resulting from customer changes, maturity issues encountered in service or in production as well as actions needed for cost reductions
  • Define and implement all action plans ensuring airworthiness
  • Manage configuration
  • Ensure that non conformities and repair activities are addressed in accordance with Safran LS performance commitments and needs
  • Implement all action plans ensuring Products Improvement
  • Ensure Program performance on Repairs process
  • People leadership for direct reports

    The postholder will be a qualified, competent and experienced Aerospace engineer of some years, with:
  • A strong working knowledge of Hydro Mechanical Systems
  • Degree qualified and ideally a member of a professional body
  • Thorough product knowledge of Aeronautical systems
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace requirements and specifications at Aircraft Level
  • Program and Project-management skills including clear understanding and management of technical risks
  • Communication skills at all levels with the organisation and with customers - including presentation, identification of customer needs, ability to influence and negotiate
  • Leadership /People Management skills in order to get the best from allocated resource whilst supporting development and wellbeing
  • Able to understand complex multi-functional challenges, identify the right technical solutions and gain business/customer agreement
