Full Job Description
Join our new, innovative and exciting Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) a 10-year programme for delivering our renewals programme for CP7 and beyond. We have a new opening as the Programme Engineering Manager for the Track discipline where you will manage the engineering, and where applicable project development, of all schemes for the Programme so that they comply with the requirements of NR & SRE governance processes (i.e. Project Acceleration in a Controlled Environment, PACE), regulatory obligations and are ultimately capable of acceptance back onto the network to high quality and efficient delivery., 1. Develop and manage the team structure and processes to deliver and review engineering outputs to support the programme schedule, budget and quality requirements.
2. In line with programme requirements, identify and manage the introduction of new systems on the network, where applicable, including systems/safety approvals and monitoring so that processes and documentation exist for sustained network usage.
3. Develop safety, quality and environmental approvals processes within the programme including staff development and competence.
4. Identify and manage the programme engineering budget along with providing support information determining the overall programme budget.
5. Manage all engineering and project development activities result so that they in schemes that are affordable, and that meet Programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.
6. Provide professional functional leadership for engineering within the programme, in accordance with policies set up by the Engineering function.
7. Manage the appropriate validation and verification of engineering activity.
· Chartered Engineer with relevant successful experience of Programme Management within the Railway Industry or other complex E&M industries/projects.
· University degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering.
· Membership of an appropriate Professional Institution.
· Relevant experience of railway engineering systems and equipment, and implementation.
· Construction design management competence
· Six Sigma Champion.
Desirable
Experience of large programmes/projects.
Experience of leading railway engineering design & development works.
