Full Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development with the successful delivery of capital and revenue, new and refurbishment projects across the Trusts vast property portfolio., The post holder will be responsible for the management of a team comprising of a Senior Project Manager, Project Managers and Assistant Project Manager, supplemented by consultant designers and technical advisors on a project-by-project basis. Please come and join us as we embark on an exciting period of new investment and transformation of our estates portfolio., Key Responsibilities: Be accountable for the delivery of key Capital and Revenue Projects, recent examples have included the delivery of an award winning 48 bed Critical Care Unit using Modern Methods of Construction, expansion of a fully operational Emergency Department and installation of ground-breaking imaging equipment.

Assist in the production and delivery of the Trusts 5 year Capital Programme (circa £30m per annum) along with leading on several exciting capital and revenue bid opportunities.

Work with the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development on shaping our built environment by assisting with the drafting and implementation of the Trusts Masterplan in collaboration with our Clinical Strategy 2023-2028.

Provide specialist advice to the Board on design, procurement, construction of healthcare projects, ultimately to improve the care we provide to our patients.

We pride ourselves with our holistic approach to construction project management supported by the diverse range of knowledge and skill of our team.

As a chartered construction professional (member of RIBA,RICS, CIOB or similar) you will have considerable post qualification experience at Programme Manager level or a Senior Project Manager looking for your next career step. You should have a thorough understanding of the design, procurement and construction process in the acute healthcare market or similar service environment.,

  • Chartered member of ICS, RIBA, CIOB, or similar

  • Degree/Diploma in line with key competencies in construction and contract management

  • Masters or equivalent experience


  • Desirable criteria

  • Diploma/Qualification in Project Management, Experience of a variety of project planning and programming techniques.

  • Proven expertise to lead, plan, manage, interact with colleagues and deliver projects successfully in a spirit of cooperation.

  • Considerable post qualification experience at management level, Ability to seek and share information and ideas in a confident and compelling manner, using a range of techniques to achieve an effective outcome.

  • Clear aptitude to engage with internal and external stakeholders and service providers and business partners to proactively manage the utility and value of the estate

  • Comprehensive ability to use Microsoft Project project management software

  • High level of written communication and analytical skills

  • Ability to analyse income and expenditure financial information rapidly and apply sound commercial acumen and sound technical knowledge to maximise value of healthcare estate.

  • Understanding of concept and Principles of Prince 2, and practical application.

  • Ability to act autonomously in predicting and responding to property management problems to ensure mitigation of risk.

  • Ability to train and teach others and act as workplace mentor in construction project management and general professional development.

  • Clear understanding of the role o a Project Management Office, Proven ability to interact & work cohesively with colleagues

  • Be able to organise workload and manage outcomes to meet planned objectives

  • Analytical and technical skill to produce coherent, comprehensive and concise reports that achieve purpose first time

  • Need to use significant mental effort to9 undertake the requirements of the role., Demonstrate ability to meet the Trust Values

  • Ability to train and teach others and act as workplace mentor and general development of others
