Full Job Description

Alder Community High School has a fantastic and rare opportunity for a highly motivated and driven individual to join our Headway team. We would like to appoint a Progress Leader who is dedicated, hardworking and committed to raising standards and improving the life chances of young people.

This is a busy role working as part of a team of 5 Progress Leaders and within the wider Headway team. You will offer pastoral support and guidance to students in your allocated year group. This will include tracking and monitoring the progress of rewards, behaviour, and attendance of students. When issues arise, in liaison with parents and appropriate staff at school, you will set targets for improvement. You will also monitor the academic progress of students and set appropriate targets for academic improvement.

Alder is a rewarding place to be. We have built a culture where staff feel valued and supported. We recognise the benefits of staff working in a productive, healthy and flourishing workplace, and we work hard to ensure the wellbeing of everyone.

The successful candidate must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students. You will need to have excellent communication and the ability to build positive relationships with young people and their families. Your enthusiasm and proactive, 'can do' attitude will be amongst your strengths. If this sounds like you, and you also have an organised approach to your work with meticulous attention to detail then we would love to hear from you.

This is a permanent appointment which is subject to a 12-month probationary period. The normal hours of work are 36 hours per week: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm and Friday, 8:00am to 3.45pm. However, this will require some flexibility at key times within the academic year. The position is term time only plus INSET days and 5 additional days, to be worked flexibly throughout the year. Additional holidays cannot be taken during term time.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Appointment is subject to satisfactory enhanced status checks from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Applications should be completed and submitted online via the TES portal by 9am on Monday 30th September 2024
