Full Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.,

  • Support for Teacher Development Sessions: Assisting with planning and supporting the delivery of synchronous teacher development sessions. This includes helping to ensure smooth facilitation of online learning environments.
  • Asynchronous Teacher Support: Providing guidance and assistance to language teachers outside of sessions, supporting them with resources, advice, and troubleshooting.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collecting and analysing data from teachers for monitoring, evaluation, and research purposes. This may include qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis related to teacher progress and session effectiveness.

    We are seeking a proactive and organised student, currently studying towards a BA or MA in TESOL and/or Linguistics, to assist colleagues and support staff on the British Council-funded project Empowering Language Teacher Development through Teacher Activity Groups: A focus on facilitator capacity building and teacher strength enhancement., This role is only open to current Manchester Met students who meet the criteria below:

  • Currently studying toward a BA/MA in TESOL/Applied Linguistics - students studying Linguistics OR TESOL joint with other subjects are also eligible to apply.
  • Experience in designing, supporting, or facilitating online learning programs, particularly in language education contexts.
  • Ability to use technologies effectively to facilitate online learning sessions, ensuring active participation and engagement.
  • Experience with collecting and analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data related to teacher development or education for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Ability to manage tasks and time efficiently, particularly when working remotely and supporting teachers asynchronously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance and support to teachers in an online setting.
  • Desirable
  • Familiarity with conducting research or evaluations related to teacher development, particularly using qualitative methods.
  • Previous experience specifically supporting teachers in developing their facilitation and leadership skills within professional learning communities.
  • Willingness to work both in Manchester and online, with the flexibility to adapt to changes in schedule as needed.
