About Us:

Help deliver crucial housing services to the survivors of the Grenfell tragedy

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are focused on putting our residents and local businesses at the heart of every decision. From the policy decisions that we're making through to the services that we're delivering, it's vital that we put the needs of our community first. We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment. And our Housing Needs department plays a vital part in achieving these goals.

The Role:

You'll take the lead on analysing the service design to prevent homelessness and reduce the numbers in temporary accommodation. You'll manage key projects and be central to the Council's strategic approach to reducing the number of households in temporary accommodation.

You will also be responsible for improving efficiencies between the frontline service and developing innovative ways of improving cross departmental working.

Resident engagement is also an important part of your work. You'll need to make sure that resident expectations are heard and met, and that they're involved in any service changes we implement.

Above all, you'll be playing a vital role in promoting our vision for a Grenfell legacy that learns from the tragedy and improves our services across the board.

Please refer to the
Job Description for more information.

About You:

We're looking for experience in project delivery, running workshops and managing change initiatives in a housing context. You'll be able to confidently use customer insight, write accurate reports and collaborate with a wide range of people to achieve objectives.

As for skills, you should be an excellent communicator who can manage expectations and make people feel able to share their views. You should be thoughtful, empathetic and genuinely passionate about helping residents and communities.

You'll also need a relevant degree or the equivalent experience, along with a project management, business analysis or change management qualification.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent learning and development opportunities.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. We reserve the right to extend or close this vacancy early without warning subject to the volume of suitable applicants.

Application process

Please do not upload any documents, including CVs/Covering Letters or supporting statements, as these documents will not be reviewed and could result in your application not being shortlisted.

You should describe how you meet the person specification requirements for the position you are applying for in Section G of the application form.

Additional information:

The council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.

We make sure all our staff are vetted to a high standard by conducting pre-employment checks to assess and assure the trustworthiness, integrity, and ability of prospective employees. This includes validating identity, right to work in the UK, qualifications (where applicable), work history (including the investigation of gaps) and referencing.
