Full Job Description

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Project Civil Engineer to join our civil engineering department in Stanford-Le-Hope. This position will support the Head of Civil Engineering as well as a diverse group of engineering managers with varying levels of competence and skill. To organize and manage third-party suppliers, consultants, and contractors who provide engineering services to London Gateway. To coordinate with planning, environment, legal, estates, property, and any other internal departments involved in the implementation of civil engineering projects at London Gateway. To coordinate and implement assigned projects, ensuring that milestones and budgets are reached. About The Role How will you contribute:

  • Monitoring and supervising civil, building works and/or services contracts.
  • Coordinate works on site between the different contractors, ensuring quality control of the site and raise any non-conformities.
  • Keep record and monitor use of in-house construction materials & volumes.
  • Undertake basic site setting out/surveying and monitoring activities.
  • Monitoring project budgets and claims and flag and escalate problems as necessary.
  • Reporting on contract (or elements of the contract) progress and advise on actions needed to keep the project to the agreed programme.
  • To prepare and review documentation for regulatory approvals and contract issue.
  • Advise and liaise with project stakeholders and consultants.
  • Taking the lead in managing the delivery of infrastructure projects at London Gateway.
  • Management of design works by consultants.
  • Contract administration of minor works and supporting Head of Civil Engineering in contract administration of major works.
  • Reporting to senior managers on contract (or elements of the contract) progress and budget and advise on actions needed to keep the project to the agreed programme and budget.
  • To prepare and review documentation for regulatory approvals, tendering and contract issue.
  • Comply with Fatal Risk Standards, Health & Safety Policy and safe working practices, ensure responsibility for safety and discipline in work area and report accidents and 'near misses' in accordance with defined safety procedures.
  • Hold and maintain professional/academic qualifications or appropriate expertise.
  • Ensure part time university education (BEng Hons) as sponsored by LG apprentice levy is completed as per agreed programme.

    Degree or higher degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proven experience within a civil engineering role
  • Engineering projects experience within a port/development/property company would be preferred.
  • Experience managing projects would be beneficial
  • Experience with logistic park project is beneficial.
  • Experience with managing budgets, design consultants and tendering/procurement is essential.
  • Proficient IT skills, including all Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A sound knowledge of working AutoCAD
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills are essential
