About the role The Project and Communications Coordinator for Higher Education will organise and coordinate engagement activities with plant science for post-16 and undergraduate audiences. This varied and creative role would suit an experienced, detail orientated communications professional and event manager who takes pride in maintaining high standards. You will work closely with members of the GPSEP team and contractors to administer ambitious student engagement projects that aim to inspire the next generation of plant scientists. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Event management of two prestigious, annual Plant Science Summer Schools for undergraduates including coordination, student recruitment and communications.
  • Supporting alumni of the summer schools with clear communications of career-enhancing opportunities and the management and updating of resources and activities tailored to them.
  • Maintaining, overseeing, and creating content for the social media channels associated with the Higher Education projects.
  • Supporting the Project Managers with the maintenance of a careers focussed website designed to enthuse post-16 audiences across the UK with plant biology.
  • Creating eye catching marketing materials to engage 16-18 year old science students and undergraduate bioscience audience throughout the UK.

    What we are looking for - Proven ability to effectively communicate with audiences via conventional, online, and social media platforms in a professional environment. - Experience of event managing high impact, in person events and activities. - Demonstrable experience of project administration and coordination. - Degree level education (or equivalent level of professional experience), ideally although not essential, in the biological sciences. - A passion for engaging audiences with effective messaging.
