The project :

Mace has been appointed to support the development and implementation of a digitally enabled PMO function to provide a controlled projects environment for the planning, implementation, and delivery of a portfolio wide decarbonisation programme.

We require an experienced and pragmatic PMO lead capable of establishing a digitally enabled PMO, capable of supporting an industry leading decarbonisation programme that will transform the client's portfolio.

The successful applicant will be accountable for the setup and application of effective governance, reporting, information management, risk and opportunity and planning across the programme.

This is an unprecedented programme of works and therefore the successful applicant will need to be capable of managing varying levels of ambiguity, implementing pragmatic solutions and building excellent working relationships to enable the successful delivery of the programme.

You will lead the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.

You will be responsible for best-in-class service delivery and effective engagement with wider industry and professional bodies to promote Mace.

You will be a recognised expert in PMO and project controls, with a strong internal and external network (e.g. clients, contractors, consultancies and other stakeholders).

Accountable for the setup and application of effective PMO methods, techniques and tools across a large UK wide decarbonisation programme including (but not limited to) governance, reporting, information management, risk and opportunity and planning.

Lead and manage a team of PMO professionals to deliver the above requirements, whilst guiding and upskilling individuals from the client team.

Work with the Mace, client and supply chain teams to successfully introduce and run an enterprise programme / portfolio management tool.

Be the key responsible lead for the enterprise programme / portfolio management tool.

Actively working with the client to enable the scaling of the tool to incorporate additional elements of their portfolio into the tool as required.

Informing, persuading, influencing and constructively challenging a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful programme delivery.

This will also include creating and delivering persuasive presentations to senior audiences.

Able to advise on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively.

Validating and challenging a wide variety of data insightful commentary & analysis.

Working with the programme lead to manage the delivery of low / medium / high complexity projects ensuring the appropriate controls are applied to each in order to enable efficient and successful delivery.

As a senior member of the team, work to grow the account through developing excellent client relationships, demonstrating exceptional service and establishing management approaches that are scalable to the wider client portfolio.

As a PMO specialist, stays up to date with key industry / professional trends exploring these with the client and applying them to the programme as required.

Weekly travel to client offices and sites in London (frequency to be determined) and ad-hoc travel to client regional offices / sites as required.

Understanding of project controls methodologies, techniques and processes for programme and project management.

Proven leadership experience, with strong people management skills and experience of motivating teams through several organisational levels.

Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills, at all working and management levels.

Demonstrable ability to understand, interpret, analyse and present complex data from an integrated project controls perspective.

Experience of working in a large integrated team over the full lifecycle of a project.

Substantial proven relevant experience in a project controls environment in a similar PCM environment.

You'll also have :

Experience working on complex programmes and projects, including the associated tooling and methodologies.

Experience of implementing and / or working with enterprise portfolio / programme management tools.

Working knowledge of project controls tools & software (e.g., MS Excel, portfolio software, MS Project, PRA, Primavera P6).

Substantial experience in a project controls environment in a lead role within an estimating, cost, risk or scheduling team on a major construction project or highly regulated environment / project., We are also open to discussing part-time, flexible, and hybrid working options if suitable within the role.
