Full Job Description

As a Project Management Assistant, you will support the project management team in the every day management of projects for which they are responsible, in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), Railway Group, Network Rail's company standards, and all current applicable legislation including CDM Regulations.
About the role (External)
What will you be doing?
· Work as part of a project team, assisting to deliver projects to time, cost and quality through various phases in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
· Monitor and report programme and progress in accordance with project reporting systems and guidelines.
· Develop and integrate, effective support systems to enable the Project Manager to manage and control change.
· Process contractor possession and isolation applications so that they applications are complete and submitted to the prescribed time scales as directed.
· Monitor contractor performance indicators and provide periodic progress reports.
· Support the Project Management team in providing a safe working environment at all times during the execution of those projects under their responsibility.
· Manage generic and site specific methods of working and supply risk assessments to agreed timescales.
· Monitor so that HSQE risk assessments have been carried out by the contractor, and monitor compliance.
· Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be

· Some management experience including project management.
· Educated to HND/HNC or similar standard.
· HSQE awareness, issues and principles.
It's not mandatory to have the below, but it would be desirable to have
· Membership (or working towards membership of) the Association for Project Management.
· A degree or equivalent.
· Knowledge of safety, quality, environmental, commercial and financial aspects.
· Understanding of possession planning.

Our Route
Central route is at the heart of Britain's railway. The route covers a major part of the national rail network and is a key commuter line in and out of Birmingham, with hundreds of thousands of passengers, and thousands of tonnes of freight carried within our route each week. Within our route is the Chiltern Main Line between London Marylebone and the West Midlands, the Snow Hill line from Stratford-upon-Avon to Worcester, the Cross City line in Birmingham, and lines to other cities including Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, and Oxford.
We are home to Birmingham New Street station, the busiest station outside of London with more than 170,000 passengers using it every day.

Salary: circa £27,000
