What does taking part in the Collins Aerospace Project Management Apprentice Programme involve? Aimed at highly motivated and ambitious individual s, eager to be a part of a world leader within the aerospace and defence industry . T his scheme is geared towards supporting the career development of apprentices who wish to play an instrumental role in project management of the next generation of civil and military aircraft. The role is based at Wolverhampton, and home of Actuation Systems at Collins Aerospace. Actuation Systems are the leading experts in fly-by-wire, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic actuation design, Collins Aerospace offers a complete line of actuation products that enhance aircraft performance and reduce pilot workload. We are looking to recruit a small number of high calibre degree apprentices who can support Actuation Systems with the effective planning and execution of Project Management right across the lifecycle. A Project Manager ( PM ) within the Collins business leads from the front, living and driving our core values of Engaged, Empowered and Accountable - always. T he PM is accountable for all aspects of project performance ensuring that the needs of the business and our diverse customer base are met across key facets such as Schedule, Cost, Quality & Scope to name but a few.

  • Minimum of 3 A Levels at CCC or above, or equivalent BTECs
  • M inimum of 5 GCSE's at Grade C/4 or above including Mathematics and English
  • Be a UK resident living in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
  • Good analytical skills and problem solving
  • Good personal management and self-organisation skills
  • Effective communicator - written and verbal

The degree apprenticeship programme lasts for a period of 4 years and is a partnership between Collins Aerospace and Aston University. You will learn key project management principles at Aston University which will be vital to your development at Collins Aerospace such as:
  • Principles of Project Management
  • Leadership and Change Management
  • Operations Management
  • Strategic Management
  • By the end of the programme, having completed your rotations and degree apprenticeship, you will be awarded a BSc in Project Management. Along side this you will also have the opportunity to become professionally accredited through the Association of Project Management (APM) as well as other internal and external training courses.
