Full Job Description

We are now looking for eager candidates to join us as a Project Management Office (PMO) Analyst Apprentice.

Our Project Management Office (PMO) is a centralised team within Pensions Solutions which defines and maintains the project management standards used to run programmes within our business. It is a pivotal function which works side by side with project and programme managers to ensure projects are delivered according to our methodology.

On a day-to-day basis, you will support the delivery of accurate data and management information for the Portfolio to make key decisions and enable client and internal change.

As an apprentice, you will be provided with the skills and knowledge to work effectively in a busy Portfolio Office. As part of the Central PMO team, you will help to monitor, control and report on numerous programmes to our senior leadership team.

Location:
Home based, but travel to Darlington [DL1 9HB], Sheffield [S4 7TL] or London [EC2T 7NQ] will be required to spend time with the team and attend relevant meetings.

Duties / Roles & Responsibilities: [Under the guidance of the PMO Manager, you will:]

  • Ensure the required level of PMO governance and control is applied to the Portfolio / Programme.

  • Create, monitor and analyse Risk, Issue and Lessons Learned logs

  • Provide meeting support to relevant Stakeholders, including scheduling meetings and collating relevant supporting documentation.

  • Produce regular reports for management meetings with supporting, relevant management information enabling our teams can make informed decisions.

  • Contribute to the production of Executive board reporting packs to provide up to date information on the progress of our programmes.

  • Manage our document repositories so all key governance documentation is stored securely.

  • Work as part of the PMO team to deliver exceptional service to our Stakeholders by providing support, advice, challenge and skills development.

  • Identify key stakeholders and build relationships to promote an understanding of the PMO role and support for portfolio activities.

  • Be proactive in the ongoing development and improvement of the PMO service.

  • Work as part of the PMO team to deliver exceptional service to Stakeholders by providing support, advice, challenge and skills development.

  • Support the PMO Manager in the day-to-day delivery of PMO management activities.

  • Identify key stakeholders and build relationships to promote an understanding of the PMO role and support for portfolio activities.

    Ability and willingness to cope with changing responsibilities and priorities on a day-to-day basis

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Able to effectively communicate progress on given tasks and provide updates against deadlines

  • Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst being methodical with excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills

  • Excellent analytical and numerical reasoning skills


  • Desirable experience / skills:
  • Experience across MS Office applications (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • An understanding of project management methodology would be advantageous, but not necessary.

  • Entry requirements: [For this programme are as follows:]
  • Level 3 Qualification (Apprenticeship/1 x A Level in any subject/BTEC etc.)

  • OR equivalent work experience (typically 2 years in a relevant role)

  • PLUS
  • 5 x GCSE's including English & Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above .
