Full Job Description

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Building team based in London, to effectively and professionally plan, manage, coordinate and monitor the specific areas and sub-contract packages of the construction works including the enabling works contract associated with the successful delivery of a mixed use commercial development in central London.

Established in the UK in 2000, Skanska has more than 3,300 local experts delivering projects across sectors including real estate, defence, education, highways, rail and water. Our Building team have created inspiring places to work including Norton Folgate in London and Unity Place in Swindon.

This is a key role in delivering against Skanska's company procedures, programme requirements (Delivery to Time procedure), Employers Requirements, Contractors Proposals and project specifications.

What you'll do:

  • As a People Leader/Area Leader, you typically achieve results through defining, assigning and delivering work, and team objectives by managing other people. These could be your direct reports or be part of projects/areas that you work on.

  • Health, Safety and Environment - Promote the site safety culture, ensure all works are carried out in planned, controlled and safe manner in accordance with statutory regulations, current standards and company health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

  • Project Management - Manage the trade contractors including the production of working drawings, procurement and prefabrication and performance on site, oversee subcontractors, labour and material requirements for the contract and support Senior Project Managers with matters primarily relating to on and off-site activities. Also providing regular written progress reports to monitor performance and highlight deficiencies at an early stage.

  • Site Management - Solve site problems when they occur, providing feedback to the Senior Project Manager on any defects or defaults found and put forward any innovative ideas to alter current methodology.

  • Design - Understand the design process, and work with the design manager, within cost restraints, to facilitate the design, and coordination of production information, to suit site requirements and conditions.

  • Commercial - Implement correct commercial control of contractors, within pre-set budgets, ensure that contractual and claim correspondence is suitable, action within agreed timescales.

  • Quality - Regularly inspect works for compliance with design, and specifications, and ensure all design solutions offered by designers and sub-contractors fully comply with the project requirements.

  • People Management - Manage any construction supervisors, students or trainees in the project team. This includes supervising, conducting appraisals and assisting with development issues

    Construction related qualification to HNC level

  • Be in possession of a current Managers CSCS card and other relevant qualifications including SMSTS

  • Previous experience in working and managing commercial office construction projects

  • Previous experience of managing multiple trade contractors inc MEP

  • Previous experience of facilitating Collaborative Planning and coordination sessions between Trade Contractors

  • Programme management Inc. Planned vs Actual dashboards

  • Quality management

  • Commercial awareness

  • Experience in civil and structural works including demolition, groundworks, reinforced concrete and steel erection

  • Must have a keen eye for detail and have the ability to ensure high quality works are achieved at all times

  • Package management experience in managing packages to a value of £20 million
