This position sits within the Shared Services Implementation and Performance Team (SSIPT), part of the DfT Group Human Resources division.

As Project Manager, you'll bring your knowledge and experience of project management to lead a team to solve unique problems and find innovative solutions. You will use your track record to liaise with key stakeholders in a timely fashion managing their expectations as well as ensuring teams work collaboratively to deliver results.

You will be working with a motivated team of product managers, technology SMEs, vendors, internal and external stakeholders to deliver an exciting roadmap of project activities. You will therefore need to be someone who can build rapport with others to build constructive working relationships.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to shape and take the lead on a transformational programme that will support the Department for Transport (DfT) Group to transition to a new Shared Service provision as part of the Unity Programme.

Responsibilities

Your key duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Project Management - To be responsible for day-to-day project management of one or more projects including the development of project plans, project control documentation ensuring they reflect scope, deliverables, timescales, resource requirements and budget.

  • Delivery - Responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the project to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.

  • Risk and Issues - To be responsible for risk management activities, supporting functional leads to identify, monitor and manage risks and issues. Successfully managing risk mitigation to ensure successful delivery.

  • Stakeholder Management - To be responsible for maintaining and enhancing good stakeholder relations through effective communications; reporting progress and issues appropriately and effectively to avoid surprises; ensure teams work in an efficient and co-ordinated manner; build and maintain team motivation and focus and ensure conflict is effectively managed.
