Full Job Description

The role of the Project Manager is to successfully plan and deliver projects according to an agreed project scope and success criteria (which as a minimum will include quality, time and cost). This includes; building and managing appropriate project delivery teams and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-parties to deliver projects according to the agreed plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives, communication strategy and oversee quality control throughout its lifecycle. The suite of projects are typically, but not exclusively, IT projects, and the successful delivery of these projects will improve the IT infrastructure to support the rapid growth that the firm has seen over the last five years. What does the role actually involve?

  • Ensuring all assigned projects and workstreams are delivered via the Business Change & Delivery framework. Ensuring all milestones are planned, resourced, managed, implemented and reported against effectively and in accordance with the overall business governance requirements.
  • Management of the project risk register in line with department standards and adoption of best practice governance for the full project lifecycle.
  • Provision of updates on progress against the Delivery plans to the Senior Project Manager, Business Change Manager and key business stakeholders.
  • Key stakeholder identification and management for all elements of delivery.
  • Building strong relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Identification and proactive resolution of issues that are impacting the success of the initiative.
  • Working collaboratively with individuals, teams, departments and key stakeholders across the firm to ensure a joined-up approach is always adopted, tailoring approach as required.
  • Proactively staying close to, scoping and monitoring the external and internal environment to ensure a forward-thinking approach is adopted and sustainable solutions are identified.
  • Acting as an ambassador of the Business Change agenda across the business.

    What technical skills are required for someone to be successful and enjoy the role?
  • Significant experience leading projects delivering solutions to business stakeholders.
  • Project Management within a professional services firm or working as a consultant (ideally within the legal sector).
  • Project management qualifications are desirable with demonstrable experience of applying Agile (Scrum), SDLC (Waterfall), Prince2 methodologies.
  • Previous experience of full lifecycle delivery of projects and programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience of adopting a 'consulting' and 'solution' focused approach.
  • Experience of managing IT system deployment projects and sound understanding of IT software and infrastructure.
  • Experience of running projects which introduce organisational and process change to business functions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good analytical skills and experience of project/programme road mapping.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills with good understanding and experience of using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio, SmartSheet and/or DevOps knowledge would be an advantage.
