Full Job Description

To deliver the vision the One Council Programme (OCP) has been created. The changes the programme will deliver will positively affect everyone in the organisation, they will help unite teams, services, directorates and NNC as a whole to a greater level than has been achieved so far. The programme is a transformative initiative that will guide us in our development as a modern and efficient council, and ensure we stand out as a leader in local government., You will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Workspace Transformation Project. The project is designed to make the best use of our office spaces through redesign and relocation. It will create a fit for purpose, unified and collaborative working environment for everyone. It is driven by the need for modernisation, efficiency, and employee well-being. By aligning with organisational strategies, embracing future ways of work, and prioritising sustainability, we are building a workspace that is not only fit for the present but also prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the future. This project contains extensive engagement and consultation, assessment and analysis of the NNC estate, and the design and delivery of building works to meet legal, corporate and communicated business requirements. Due to the size and complexity of the project, various elements will be delivered by existing Operations, I.T, Capital and Assets and Environment Project teams. This role will act as a central point of coordination and understanding.,

  • Stakeholder management - Develop effective relationships with stakeholders and partners both internal and external to the Authority.
  • Risk & Issue Management - develop, manage and monitor the project risk and issues register ensuring that the risks are costed and mitigated to the lowest possible level that the Authority can accept.
  • Strategy - understand, interpret and represent the Authority's One Council Vision and strategy in project decision making
  • Project Planning and management - understand all activities, phases, responsibilities and interdependencies and document them in plan to act as a foundation for coordination and management
  • Governance - Create and present highlight reports, including risks, issues and mitigations to the One Council Location Board and briefings for the Assistant Director for Assets and Environment
  • Driving Delivery - Through the clear communication of expectations, scope, allocation and resources. Where possible facilitate activities to support the various teams in achieving their tasks.
  • Leadership - Share the vision, empower the team, encourage collaboration, open communication and learning across the project team

    The successful candidate will be agile and flexible enough to adapt ensuring the project has flexibility within its parameters to allow for change should the strategy, regulations or outcome require change during the delivery of the project.
  • You will be educated to degree level or with equivalent experience and have a relevant project management qualification or equivalent alongside knowledge and experience of managing complex projects. Local authority or public sector experience is key particularly to provide a knowledge of elements such as governance, approvals and procurement processes. Knowledge of the management of construction related projects, office design principles and HR consultation processes are desirable. Experience of a large-scale estate redesign project is ideal.
