Full Job Description

The Royal Navy are currently working on the next generation support solution for its in-service torpedoes. A small team is being brought together to support in-place colleagues deliver that outcome. The day to day duties will be executed within the DE&S, reporting to the Deputy Team Leader of the Torpedoes and Maritime Strike team (TMS). RESPONSIBILITIES + Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to understand project objectives and requirements. + Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, deliverables, tasks, and timelines. + Create detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 software. + Identify critical path activities and dependencies to optimise project timelines. + Assess resource requirements and allocating personnel, equipment, and materials for project tasks. + Ensure optimal resource utilisation and avoiding overallocation. + Continue monitoring project progress and performance against the established schedule. + Identify potential delays or risks and implement corrective actions. + Generate regular progress reports and present them to project managers and stakeholders. + Provide updates on project status, milestones, and variances from the original plan. + Assist in identifying potential risks and uncertainties that could impact project timelines. + Collaborate with project teams to develop risk mitigation strategies. + Manage changes to the project schedule resulting from scope changes or unforeseen events. + Assess the impact of changes on project timelines and communicating adjustments to stakeholders. + Communicate with project managers, team members, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with the project schedule. The key deliverable will be a Strategic Outline Case that will set subsequent programme direction.

+ Evidence of Cat A project schedule delivery in MOD / DE&S + Evidence of role played in delivering project plan, project schedule + Evidence that they have worked in MOD project delivery or in industry facing MOD within the last 3 months. + Experience of supporting Project Delivery in an MOD / ideally DE&S environment + UK MOD maritime experience, preferably torpedoes / submarine related + Able to craft and own a detailed project schedule, Level 1 plan, and work breakdown structure + Ability to contribute to project milestones against demanding performance, cost, and time constraints + Comfort in working with minimal daily supervision to deliver key outputs + Able to look ahead and anticipate challenges, craft solutions, and resolve them, referring to the Project manager for guidance + Comfortable working in the Cat A project delivery environment, understand the assurance and scrutiny requirements required and able to work through delivery friction at pace + Able to use in place IT systems (MODNet) to deliver effective MOD compliant staff work that stands 2

  • + Experience of MODNet / MS Suite of tools / DE&S project management and risk tools + DE&S project management delivery experience + Managing Successful Programs (MSP) + APMP - Project Management + PRINCE 2 + APMP - Management of Risk (MoR) + We need either APMP or PRINCE 2, MSP would be a nice to have as would be MoR.
