Full Job Description

As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have a permanent vacancy for a Project Scheduler to manage scheduling of project delivery, change and new business. The role will be embedded in the PMO and will work alongside Project and Programme managers, collaborating with multi-functional teams, to ensure the efficient planning, coordination, and execution of projects within our organisation. You will be self-motivated, able to work autonomously to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables and must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges. This position is a full time, permanent role and applicants must have SC clearance or be willing to undergo the clearance process. Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to develop and maintain project schedules using standard scheduling software including Microsoft Project.
  • Analyse project scope, requirements, and available resources to create accurate and achievable project schedules.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential scheduling risks and constraints, proactively recommending adjustments and corrective actions to ensure milestones are met.
  • Use critical path analysis to identify time critical project activities and potential bottlenecks and support schedule optimisation.
  • Coordinate with teams to align their activities with project timelines and dependencies.
  • Produce regular progress reports. Present schedule updates to project teams and stakeholders and facilitate communication around project timelines.
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of scheduling conflicts and constraints, working collaboratively to find feasible solutions.
  • Implement and maintain standardised scheduling processes and best practices to improve overall project communication and efficiency.
  • Contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of PMO documentation and overall Integrated Master Schedule
  • (For P3 Role) Train and mentor junior team members on scheduling techniques, software utilization, and project management methodologies

    Able to demonstrate experience (minimum 2 years) in Project Scheduler role.
  • Experience of Microsoft Project
  • Experience of Agile development (ideal but not essential if P2)
  • Competent Microsoft Excel User
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
  • Analytical and Systematic approach to Technical Challenges
  • Good interpersonal skills and judgement for dealing with both internal and external stakeholders to develop strong working relations to support achieving objectives.
  • Ability to engage and work within a multi-functional programme team comprising both customer, supplier and internal staff with an awareness of engineering principles. Excellent written communication through the use of e-mail, presentations and reports.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of business, finance and personnel management techniques and the commercial aspects of projects.
  • The ability to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with good verbal communication
