Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Worker to join our Thurrock Rough Sleepers Outreach team. We provide an end to end service working with people from the point of identification as homeless and support them whilst on the streets to securing accommodation within the local borough or reconnecting them to a place where the individual has lived previously. We work closely with the local councils Rough Sleeper Co-Ordinator and the local councils housing team. In this role you will work with our outreach staff and other external agencies in supporting these identified vulnerable customers. Part of this role includes out of hours outreach work, when the team go out to identify and confirm any potential homeless people that are referred to us via Streetlink this includes early mornings 5am to 8am and late evenings 10pm to 1am.   • Regularly assessing the needs of customers by writing and updating support plans, and signposting access to education, training and employment
  • Supporting customers in their day to day living i.e. with cooking and cleaning
  • Offering advice in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
  • Assisting customers with managing finances and welfare benefits
  • Encouraging social inclusion and helping customers to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Working with statutory and non-statutory agencies on behalf of the customers and actively encouraging choice and involvement, or acting as an advocate when required
  • Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments within legislative frameworks, Sanctuary Group encourages and welcomes applications from people from diverse backgrounds to support our commitment to offering an inclusive environment for our employees and customers.
  • We work closely with the Home Office in order to prevent illegal working. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be necessary in the event of a successful application which we will pay for.   • Experience of working with adults who have experienced homelessness
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong "can-do" attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Strong organisational skills as well as functional literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to react quickly to changing priorities whilst working to deadlines and targets
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards is essential
