Full Job Description

This motivated and highly professional inclusive team is looking for a qualified and experienced Lawyer (full time 37 hours per week) who is committed to excellence in their work and with a passion for commercial property work in particular, freehold related work. If successful, you will be part of a friendly and supportive team that deals with, the preparation of sale and purchase documentation, auction packs, drafting and negotiating leases and development agreements, unregistered and registered title investigations, Leasehold Reform Act applications, licences, tenant default and commercial debt advice. The chosen candidate will also be required to support junior members of the team as required and assist with training trainee solicitors whist providing a range of advice on property legislation to various officers within the Council as well as Councillors and senior management. We will continue to embrace a mixture of both remote and office working going forward.

The role will suit a detailed, focused, enthusiastic lawyer who enjoys a busy and challenging caseload.

  • About the team we are recruiting to Coventry City Council's Legal and Procurement Services are part of the public sector providing in-house legal support and has custodial responsibility for public spending to Coventry City Council. The Place Team in Coventry Legal Services is responsible for all planning, highways, and commercial property advice to the Council. The successful candidate will manage a varied and large caseload including all aspects of commercial property. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to attend decision making meetings including Cabinet Member meetings as required.
