Full Job Description

You will be managing the day-to-day running of Barrington Court, delivering an exceptional visitor experience with high presentation standards. This role will require you to be able to walk the property including the parkland and help in any area that is needed. We are open throughout the year so being flexible is very important. This role will line manage across disciplines which include house & collections conservation, visitor welcome, visitor experience and garden conservation, as well as working with the Experiences, Conservation, Facilities and Countryside portfolio leads. You will be guiding staff and volunteers to be ambitious and forward thinking and will work closely with the General Manager and Area Managers to support delivery and communication of the overall vision. Barrington Court is unique with a private water supply, renewable heating and controlling flood gates, therefore you will be working with and drawing on, the Portfolio Facilities Manager to ensure that Barrington Court is well maintained. Compliance and the development of the Barrington Revival project pipeline is an essential and significant part of the role. It is an exciting time to join as you and the team will be planning for the future of the property, looking at our infrastructure, visitor experience and commercial business. As operations manager you will sit on the south somerset senior management team supporting with strategic decision making and ensuring a collaborative, inclusive approach across the portfolio. You will have a great attitude, bundles of energy and a love of engaging with people.     We are looking for a Property Operations Manager at Barrington Court to look after the day-to-day operations of this medieval manor farm estate, one of the first large mansion properties acquired by the National Trust.
  • Barrington Court sits within the South Somerset portfolio, and you will be working with a leadership team protecting and enhancing one of the most exciting and diverse portfolios in the National Trust. The portfolio includes Montacute House, Lytes Cary Manor, Tintinhull Garden, Treasurers House, Stoke Sub Hamdon Priory, Priests House and Stembridge Tower Mill. We are looking for someone who understands how to manage operations, motivate multidisciplinary teams and gets things done. You'll be an experienced leader, bringing your enthusiasm, drive and determination to this exciting role.
