It's an exciting time to join Cannock Chase District Council. Do you want to make a difference, play a key role in the delivery of our Capital Works Programme, ensuring our homes continue to meet Regulatory Standards and Energy Efficiency targets. If you can demonstrate excellent experience of project management in construction and surveying, then we would love to hear from you., We currently have an opportunity for a Property Surveyor to deliver outstanding services and support the Housing Property Services Team to deliver planned and cyclical investment programmes.

Cannock Chase District Council currently manages a housing portfolio of approximately 5,300 properties and is proud to deliver both a new build programme together with a planned investment programme of over £8m to repair and improve existing housing stock in order to improve the service quality and outcomes for our residents.

What you will be doing:

A typical day for you would include managing delivery of works and major improvement projects, carrying out surveys on properties and providing advice, and responding to customer enquiries. You will assist the Assistant Manager (Assets) in ensuring safe, comfortable, affordable and sustainable homes for our customers. The small stock size ideally suites a candidate who is adapted to work on a wide variety of work streams., From the start you will receive a warm welcome through an induction which will give you the opportunity to go through your role and responsibilities, terms of employment, learn about some of our key policies and procedures as well as provide you with some practical information to make the transition into your new role as smooth and effective as possible.

Employee Reviews are completed on a regular basis and coaching and mentoring is available to develop individual skills, knowledge and confidence. We are looking for someone who has relevant knowledge following experience working in a building surveying discipline on housing capital works programmes; Experience in the delivery of planned maintenance and upgrade works contracts; A minimum of HNC Level or equivalent qualification in a Construction or Building related subject.

You will be capable of effective communication with people at all levels both externally and within the organisation. You will have excellent IT skills with a proven ability to improve effective working methods and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages in your day-to-day work.
