Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit to the position of Public Affairs and Communications Manager as a maternity cover. The successful candidate will help manage and deliver the organisation's corporate public affairs activity in order to secure positive change on behalf of local government. They will also provide high quality written material, including briefings, speeches, and digital communications to support the LGA's corporate messaging and campaigning activities. This is a high profile role in the organisation, supporting the LGA Chairman, Chief Executive and other senior LGA leaders.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience of having managed public affairs and stakeholder engagement activity in a fast paced political environment, with the ability to deliver projects to tight deadlines. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate significant experience delivering a range of communications activity, including speeches, briefings, presentations, bulletins and other communications for the LGA Chairman, Chief Executive and senior LGA representatives. You will need to be an enthusiastic team player who can contribute towards a culture of collaborative and constructive working that helps to develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
