Full Job Description

This exciting new role offers you an opportunity in overseeing the co-ordination management, implementation and delivery of projects supporting the Districts and Boroughs in their work on improving public health and reducing health inequalities, through action on the wider determinants of health and the local implementation of the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Strategy which is also the Kent Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

You will be responsible for a small team of four project officers who will be working directly with three districts/borough councils, supporting these council officers to support their health and wellbeing initiatives and will receive professional and strategic input from the central public health team at Kent County Council.

Partnership working is key to success in this role, and you will be heavily involved with the administration of district Health Alliances that either already exist or soon will do across the county. The Health Alliances bring together a full range of local partners including the voluntary sector, primary care, adult social care and more.

Public Health promotes the prevention of poor health and seeks to address health inequalities and inequities locally. The wider Public Health team commission services including health visiting, drug and alcohol treatment. As well as work in health protection, undertake research and analysis of health-related data.

You will lead projects, provide support, present reports for different audiences, and monitor progress against outcomes.

You will need to have the ability to prioritise competing demands and objectives, coupled with political awareness, diplomacy and a working knowledge of all stages of the project cycle.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills to work efficiently and effectively across organisational boundaries and with internal partners.

As an employee of Kent County Council, you will receive training suitable to the role and to support your development, along with excellent benefits, including 29 days annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and flexible working.
