Full Job Description

Response the post holder will be expected to support any acute response to a public health incident. This includes attending and supporting IMTs/OCTs, and working as part of the Health Board response. Recent examples include the Gwent measles outbreak, and the Infected Blood Inquiry report response. The post holder will be expected to manage the identification, prevention, control and relevant response to infectious and non-infectious threats to the population of Gwent. This may include establishing situational awareness, surveillance, mobilising vaccinations or sampling and testing in partnership with relevant clinical teams, supporting contact tracing, and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

Communicable Disease Control the post holder will lead on work programmes, e.g. elimination of Hepatitis B and C; vaccination equity; sexually transmitted infections. This will require close working with clinical teams, good project management, and providing progress reports to senior management team.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join the Public Health team, working on Health Protection locally. As a Senior Public Health Practitioner within Health Protection, the post holder will work with a range of teams and services to deliver the objectives of the team. The post holder must be able to demonstrate their ability to work with large and small multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams of diverse individuals and be able to manage conflicting perspectives. Key working relationships that the post holder will be expected to establish and maintain, both internally and externally of ABUHB, include fellow Health Protection and Public Health team members, other ABUHB departments, Public Health Wales, other Health Boards, Local Authorities and Social Care Providers. There may be times when the post holder will be expected to work with, engage and/or communicate with members of the public., The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
