Are you passionate about improving the standard and quality of legal proceedings for Sheffield children? Then this could be the job for you.

We are looking for a full - time Public Law Officer (PLO) to join our Quality Assurance Involvement Service.

This is a key role in improving the quality of service delivery to children, young people and their families who are subject to legal proceedings initiated by children's services. The PLO officer will be responsible for monitoring the progress of PLO and care proceedings and will attend the Legal Gateway Panel.

An important part of the role will be to identify areas for development and good practice. The role will entail offering advice and assistance to social work practitioners in relation to legal proceedings and report writing.

The suitable candidate will be a professionally qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England. Evidence of significant experience working with children and families, evidence of extensive knowledge of relevant children and families legislation, including public and private law proceedings.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
