The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as the United Kingdom's leading organisation for the provision of protective policing for the civil nuclear industry and other critical national infrastructure. Given the critical nature of our work, it's vital that we recruit skilled and committed professionals to our team.

We're looking for PPST Instructors to join our Training Division to teach and develop teams across our Operational Policing Units in PPST Training (Initial, Refresher and Development), Taser Training and Multi-Stage Fitness Testing. This role is based from our Headquarters in Culham, but will involve regular fully expensed travel to other sites nationally, as training needs demand. To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be a serving police officer and qualified PPST Instructor in your current force.

As we are an armed police service, all transferee's will be required to attend an Initial Foundation Programme to become an Authorised Firearms Officer, before posting into your PPST Instructor role. Training is fully paid and funded by CNC and you will be supported throughout.

As we play a key role in the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve, there is a chance you may be deployed across the country as part of Operation Temperer, or in response to terrorist attacks. You will also have the opportunity to work shifts as an AFO at local sites.

You will have the opportunity to build on your skills and knowledge in preparation for promotion process and assist in the development and implementation of new training methodologies.

Successful applicants will meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve the requisite MSFT standard (7.6).

  • Be a serving police officer in a recognised force.

  • Be fully qualified as a PPST Instructor.

  • Attend and successfully complete the Initial Foundation Programme to attain AFO status.

  • Not have been on any stage of the Unsatisfactory Performance Procedure (UPP) within the last 12 months.

  • Be willing and able to attend national training courses when required.

  • The role requires travel and overnight stays away from home and a requirement to work some weekends. You may be required to obtain a higher level of security clearance to carry out this role.
