Full Job Description

Job Title: Purchase Ledger Clerk Reports to: Finance Bursar Hours of work: 20 hours per week (to be worked over either four or five days) Contract: Initially a one year contract but potential to become a permanent contract Salary: £28,099 - £30,368 FTE The Headmaster and CEO of Eltham College, family of Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join the Finance Team, supporting the team with managing the purchase ledger and other finance elements. Main Duties (but not limited to)

  • Managing the purchase ledger in Oasis for both the School and its subsidiary, FSSM Ltd, ensuring accuracy and completeness;
  • Checking, coding and entering supplier invoices and expense claims, ensuring correct authorisation and accounting for VAT;
  • Preparing the weekly payment run for both companies;
  • Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining existing account details
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Managing unapproved invoices to ensure timely authorisation
  • Assisting with data gathering and analysis for VAT returns
  • Administering petty cash
  • Banking cheques and cash at the local Post Office
  • Assisting with data preparation for year-end audit
  • Providing general office support
  • Carrying out any other reasonable requests, in line with the broad responsibilities of the role
  • Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools. The College has grown considerably over recent years: there are now over 800 students in the Senior School and around 260 pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed.
