Full Job Description

Want to keep your acting skills in top form without breaking the bank to do so? Our Pay What You Can (PWYC) Actor Labs on Zoom take place every Monday night from 6pm - 8pm.

The Bala Labs are a space for actors to practice their skills on a regular basis. Absolute beginners would benefit from doing an introductory course before considering labs, but you don't have to be a seasoned professional to benefit.

You can come along to the session with something you have already prepared or you can opt to be given a scene or a monologue on the night. In this way you can work off book or have the option to work on your sight reading skills instead.

Our zoom sessions are particularly useful for focusing on Camera Technique as you are already in the frame, but you can use the session to work on just about anything. You are able to record yourself in session when performing and keep the clips for reference.

Sessions are participant led in that you can make offers on what to explore; if you've been reading up on a new technique you're welcome to try it in session or introduce the ideas for everyone to try. Studio Director Kat Harrison facilitates sessions offering notes and guidance for those that require it.

As an actor herself, Kat well understands the difficulties in keeping yourself in practice between roles and firmly believes there should be a space to do that, with your peers, that can be accessible to everyone regardless of financial status. That is why she created the online Labs.
She very much looks forward to seeing you there some time.

To book simply visit the website and complete the booking form, you will be sent a zoom link and payment information. PWYC means just that, you are welcome to come along to class for as little as £1. If you are in a position to pay more, the recommended contribution would be no higher than £35.

If you want to support us in providing support to those facing financial barriers who wish to attend our set price courses, we ask that you consider visiting our site and learning more about our Kindness Fund.
