Full Job Description
The Psychologist role provides critical support to our clients throughout their personal journey to recovery from dependence to alcohol. The role will add specialist skills and expertise that allow Horizon to offer a truly person-centred service, trauma informed, Cognitive Behavioural service to the people who use its services. The role will use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help those with alcohol issues toward a lifestyle of recovery and independence. The Psychologist will support the workforce by enhancing service delivery and staff well-being, using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach in supervision, training and development. Taking responsibility for the provision of the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy service within Lighthouse Horizon; incorporating complex assessments leading to psychological formulations of distress, integration of complex neuropsychological principles, and forming judgements for provision of interventions, diagnosis, and management options. The role will
practice as an independent clinician and work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the community teams policies and procedures. In so doing will be responsible for adhering to relevant policies and professional ethics and standards. The role will also contribute to Dual Diagnosis development and contribution and multiagency forums to enhance pathways and support for people with complex issues.
Main duties of the job
Carrying out assessments, collaborating treatment plans and socialising psychological formulations involving psychometric tests, interpreting complex data and giving feedback sensitively.
Risk Assess individual clients and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies.
Liaise with relevant professionals within the community, to provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
Assessment, formulation and implementation of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, within the specific areas of responsibility. This may incorporate specialised complex assessments and interpretation of psychometric material under the supervision of an Lead Psychologist
Evaluate and make decisions about treatment and recovery options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning organic, historical and developmental processes that have shaped the person and family or social group within which they function.
Maintain high standards of record keeping, exercise due diligence in respect of duty of care and communicate to colleagues information on assessment, diagnosis and the nature/purpose of psychological therapy and rehabilitation.
Utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence based practice in individual work.
