Full Job Description
To promote Food Safety and Quality culture through the business.
Testing of raw materials finished products and packaging against specifications.
Continual development of all Quality Control testing to ensure a robust Food Safety and Quality System and promoting food safety & Quality culture in line with company strategy, regulatory, and customer requirements - whilst responding to an ever changing and evolving customer and business requirements.
Ensure the effective running of the Quality Control Laboratory by:
Supporting the QC lab Manager and Shift Supervisors,
Handling of customer complaints, internal rejects and supplier complaints where applicable.
Responsibilities
Testing of raw materials, packaging and finished products
Test result entry into the system
Release or rejecting product as required
Actively using the CAPA system for logging of rejects and complaints, as well as following up on associated actions
Conducting investigations as part of the continuous improvement programme
Complete root cause analysis
Implement and develop testing methodologies and ensuring compliance of equipment and testing
Preparing samples for external analysis
Build relationships with Operations to resolve and improvement the manufacturing process
Work in accordance with good laboratory practices, and within health and safety requirements
Excellent computer literacy include the Office suite
Knowledge of microbiology and analytical chemistry
Knowledge of HACCP, BRC standards and other relevant customer standards
Sensory skills
Relevant laboratory instrumentation courses
Ability to work autonomously and proactively
Good knowledge of food standards including allergens
Self-motivated and determined
Keen eye for details and confident to raise concerns effectively and constructively
An effective communicator
Requirements
We operate a continental shift system on 12hour shifts, rotating between days and nights. 4 days on and 4 days off. Initially the training may involve working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am - 4.30pm.
