Full Job Description

A nurturing and inclusive special school catering to primary and secondary-aged students with complex needs, including PMLD, SLD, and Autism. The school provides a safe, supportive environment where every student's individual needs are met through personalised learning, small class sizes, and a dedicated team of teachers, teaching assistants, and therapists. The school values creativity, collaboration, and a student-centred approach to education.
The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and adaptable qualified teacher to join our specialist team. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the unique needs of students with complex learning profiles. Working with small classes, you will create a supportive environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional development. This role requires creativity, flexibility, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with SEND. The age you will teach will depend on experience. The school is open to applications from part-time or full-time candidates.
Main Responsibilities
+ Plan and deliver individualised lessons tailored to students' developmental stages and abilities.
+ Ensure each student receives the attention and support they need.
+ Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes engagement and progress.
+ Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to deliver holistic support.
+ Develop and implement individual education plans to track and enhance student progress.
+ Support students' social, emotional, and physical development, ensuring their well-being is prioritised.
+ Build strong relationships with students, families, and carers to ensure continuity and consistency.

+ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
+ Experience working with students with complex needs, including PMLD, SLD, or Autism.
+ Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching strategies.
+ Ability to differentiate lessons and resources to meet individual needs.
+ Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
+ A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching.
Desirable Criteria
+ Additional SEND qualifications or training.
+ Experience working in a specialist or alternative provision.
+ Knowledge of sensory integration strategies and communication systems (e.g., Makaton, PECS).
