Full Job Description
The Vaccination and Screening Directorate (V&S) is responsible for discharging the NHS public health functions agreement, under which the Secretary of State delegates responsibility to NHS England for certain public health services, known as Section 7A services. These include around 20 immunisation programmes, 11 screening programmes and other services such as child health information services (CHIS), some of which are led Health and Justice national commissioning team. Working as a multi-disciplinary team, we work across the NHS and wider partners to design and deliver the best possible services. The directorate is collectively responsible for the delivery of our mission statement: To deliver maximum levels of uptake and coverage across the whole population within and between communities, improving health outcomes, avoiding harm, enabling earlier diagnosis and helping people to stay well, leaving no-one behind. Applications are invited for a Quality Assurance (QA) Facilitator role within the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening and Diabetic Eye Screening (DES) portfolios. As a QA Facilitator you will be required to assist in the coordination and oversight of the QA ofcomprehensive programme of quality assurance forAAA and DES programmes, stimulating, and facilitating programme specific QA activity. Main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert advice and guidance and delivering quality assurance and improvement activities to screening providers.
- Providing senior management level support to and deputise in the absence of the QA Managers and Deputy Managers across the full range of QA activities. - Contributing to the development of local AAA and DES screening services while building and managing relationships with providers and commissioners of local screening programmes.
- Supporting senior QA staff in developing policies, methods, and tools for quality assurance.
- Providing support to local AAA and DES screening services through regular communications and meetings.
- Working with senior staff to address screening incident identification, management, and resolution for AAA and DES screening services
- Ensuring that visits/reviews of local AAA and DES screening services are conducted effectively, on time and by appropriate and trained reviewers.
- Interpreting data and information to monitor performance and highlight issues of concern. The post holder will be able to make decisions or recommendations to senior staff, when required. They will be capable of working to tight and often changing timescales and knowing when and how to seek advice from senior QA staff members. The post holder will have the ability to handle difficult and controversial issues with tact and diplomacy. The post holder will have report-writing and analytical skills they can use to support local screening services. They will have an understanding of the principles of population-based screening programmes in the UK with experience of quality management and audit. This role will involve working with colleagues across the directorate and in other directorates, leading or supporting agreed workstreams as appropriate.
