Full Job Description

This is an exciting time to be working as Quality Assurance Support Officer for the Metropolitan Police Service. In addition to large-scale transformation, there's the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. This role sits within People and Resources, Learning and Development and the Centre for Initial Recruit Learning (CIRL), which is responsible for the training of new police officers within their probationary period. The Quality Assurance strand is responsible for delivering the CIRL QA strategy and perform QA activities, to ensure that the Met is providing high quality and effective training for new officers. The strand is responsible for managing recruit surveys, teaching observations, facilitating recruit voice forums, embedding organisational learning and reporting on QA to the College of Policing. This role sits within the Operations, Quality Assurance and Data & Performance function, and some flexibility to support other strands may be required dependent upon resourcing and demand.

Key role description

  • Maintain high administrative standards and version control of key training assets and guidance documentation

  • Provide administrative support within the Quality Assurance strand and across the wider CIRL team

  • Manage the logistics and record keeping of recruit surveys

  • Liaise with key partners across the CIRL, BCUs and wider organisation to embed organisational learning and deliver QA activities.

  • Liaise with key external partners including Babcock International and Police Now, to support the QA of partners' training delivery

  • Administration of teaching observations and voice forums, providing guidance and advice to trainers and line managers engaged in these activities.

  • Contribute to the annual Quality Self-Assessment report

  • Manage the QA Sharepoint, ensuring that organisation-facing information is up to date


  • The post holder must have excellent communication skills and have ability to build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally with the following groups:
  • Reports into the appropriate manager within CIRL who will direct the post holder's delivery, tasking and provide direction on priorities

  • Liaise across the central CIRL to support the delivery of their own work. Frequency of contact is likely to vary between daily and weekly, taking place either face-to-face, via MS Teams or via email.

  • This role sits within the Operations, Quality Assurance and Data & Performance function, and some flexibility to support other strands may be required dependent upon resourcing and demand.

  • Liaise with teams across L&D and the wider organisation to embed organisation learning and deliver QA activities.


  • Location and working hours:

    Shifts are Monday-Friday, but there needs to be flexibility to meet the criteria of the role as and when required. CIRL are based at Peel Centre, Hendon, but the role holder will be supported to adopt a flexible and blended approach to working according to business needs achieving a balance between face to face working at Hendon, Marlowe House and NSY, while benefitting from the various remote working options that are available.

    Whilst this is a full time role, applications are also considered through Project Balance share. L&D supports flexible working and this is reviewed on a case by case basis.

    Posting Information:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to organise work and prioritise against competing demands and timescales

  • Ability to liaise and collaborate with internal and external partners

  • Desirable role criteria:
  • Experience working in Academic/Educational organisations or on projects within a Learning and Development environment

  • Experience working within Policing

  • Experience in Quality Assurance within an education or training setting

    Salary: The starting salary is £33,348, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.


  • The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £32,639. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
